Chapter 3987: A Heavenly Emperor Lying in Wait
An ancient bronze mirror hung above the gates of the Observance Heaven City. It was a part of the city. From time to time, it would beam down a streak of light to test the cultivation of those who entered and determine the necessary daily fee.
Jian Chen had entered the Observance Heaven City before, so he obviously possessed an entry tablet. He had filled it up with many coloured immortal crystals as well, so he did not have to worry about the issue of entry at all.
After entering the Observance Heaven City smoothly, Jian Chen found a high-class inn and settled down there. After activating the obscuring barrier that came with the room, he called out to the empty air, “Senior artifact spirit, I know that you’re present everywhere. Please show yourself!”
“You still have the courage to come back? You sure are bold. Do you really think no one has seen through you?” The artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City’s cold voice rang out of thin air as soon as Jian Chen finished speaking.
In the Observance Heaven City, the artifact spirit could be described as an omnipresent and omniscient existence of invincibility. It had already known that Jian Chen had entered the Observance Heaven City the moment he set foot inside.
Seeing how the artifact spirit acknowledged him, Jian Chen eased up inside. Entering the Observance Heaven City was easy but contacting the artifact spirit was not.
Not everyone had the right to speak with the artifact spirit.
“Senior artifact spirit, I’d like to meet with the master of the Pavilions of Heavenly Secrets. I was hoping you could assist me with this.” Jian Chen clasped his fist. He spoke with great respect.
“You sure are clever for not going straight to the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets. I will pass on your request, but whether you’re able to meet with him will come down to your luck,” the artifact spirit replied.
Jian Chen furrowed his brows when he heard that, but he recovered soon after. He did not directly go to the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets and instead chose to ask the artifact spirit to pass on the message to guard against some things.
The artifact spirit’s words allowed Jian Chen to understand that the precautions he took were not unnecessary.
“Sure enough, the Reverent Observance Heaven isn’t as peaceful as it seems on the surface. It was a wise decision to not barge right into the Sword Region of Violet Heavens,” Jian Chen thought.
Afterwards, Jian Chen waited patiently in the inn. He sat on a cushion calmly with his eyes shut.
However, he did not have to wait for too long. After only five minutes, the space in the room suddenly twisted. It silently turned into a gate that appeared before Jian Chen.
The scenery in the gate was the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets that Jian Chen was familiar with!
Sitting on the cushion, Jian Chen opened his eyes and smiled faintly. He stood up and stepped through the gate.
In the miniature world, the master of the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets gazed at Jian Chen amicably with a smile.
“Greetings, pavilion master. Please forgive my sudden intrusion.” Jian Chen bowed.
The pavilion master’s plain gaze seemed to possess a penetrative power. He completely saw through Jian Chen. He smiled faintly. “Compared to the last time we met, you have become much stronger. You must have benefitted even beyond my imaginations from your trip to the Skyscraping World.”
“I did benefit slightly from the Skyscraping World,” Jian Chen said modestly. Afterwards, with a flip of his hand, he took out five god artifacts from his Space Ring. They were three medium quality god artifacts and two high quality god artifacts.
He had killed many Immortal Exalts in the Skyscraping World, so the last thing he lacked right now were various kinds of god artifacts. He even possessed many cultivation methods and secret techniques. Unfortunately, he did not find any that suited him.
The five god artifact hovered in the air with hazy light. Jian Chen clasped his fist towards the pavilion master. “Pavilion master, I’d like to inquire about some information regarding the Reverent Observance Heaven. Is this enough as remuneration?”
The pavilion master pushed the two high quality god artifacts back over to Jian Chen. He only accepted the three medium quality god artifacts. “The information that you want to know this time is anything but simple, so I’ll accept these three medium quality god artifacts from you as a symbolic token.”
The pavilion master paused and gradually became stern.
Sensing the change in the pavilion master’s expression, Jian Chen’s heart tightened. What kind of person was the pavilion master? He was a Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. Even someone like him had become stern, so the situation was even more severe than he had imagined.
“Jian Chen, there is something that you did very well with, which was to not rashly make your way over to the Sword Region of Violet Heavens. Otherwise, you’d be in quite a lot of trouble.” As soon as the pavilion master spoke, the information that he revealed left Jian Chen shocked.

“The Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor of the Immortal Feather sect is currently hiding in the Sword Region of Violet Heavens. No one who visits the Sword Region of Violet Heavens can escape his watch,” the pavilion master said sternly.
“What? The Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor is actually watching over the Sword Region of Violet Heavens personally?” Jian Chen was surprised. This was a mighty heavenly emperor. He was aloof, yet he had come in person to wait for him. This matter was indeed unbelievable.
“The recovery sovereign god artifact on you is extremely tempting to the Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor. In order to obtain it, he’s capable of doing anything.” The pavilion master sighed gently and said, “Although you have two treasures that can conceal you perfectly, you won’t be able to fool the Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor if you are in close proximity. “Then have the existence of the twin swords been exposed, pavilion master?” Jian Chen was stern.
The pavilion master shook his head. “The existence of the twin swords still haven’t been exposed for now, as you possess other sovereign god artifacts on you. As a result, everything special that occurred to you, including the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City’s different attitude towards you, has been attributed to the other sovereign god artifacts by everyone else.”
“After all, if you possess a sovereign god artifact, it would make sense for the artifact spirit of the Observance Heaven City to take special care of you.”
Jian Chen let out a sigh of relief when he heard that.
However, he began to sigh inside again soon after. With the Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor watching over the Sword Region of Violet Heavens, he obviously could not retrieve the Energy-gathering Divine Mountain.
The Energy-gathering Divine Mountain in the Sword Sect of Violet Heavens was extremely important. It was critical for finding the remaining Energy-gathering Divine Mountains.
The more Energy-gathering Divine Mountains he had, the faster the Primeval Divine Hall could recover. He would be able to accelerate the process of awakening the generals.
At the same time, he understood why the Soaring Immortal Emperor only had his eyes on the Sword Region of Violet Heavens and not the entire Reverent Observance Heaven. That was why the Soaring Immortal Heavenly Emperor did not watch over the entire Reverent Observance Heaven, instead choosing to lie in wait in the Sword Region of Violet Heavens.
