With one roar from Guo Ran, those rusted swords actually quivered, and their murderous aura instantly vanished.
Sensing the change, Lu Chengkong walked in. Seeing Guo Ran’s veins throbbing on his forehead, he jumped in fright.

“If the academy had the means to forge these divine weapons, surely there was a way to repair them, right?! In the worst-case scenario, you could have sealed their item-spirits and let them enter a state of hibernation. Why let them rust away?” asked Guo Ran as he picked up one of the swords. As he held the sheath, powder sprinkled to the ground. The sword was dull and dim, with many places where runes once were now empty holes.
“They devoured their own runes to continue surviving,” said Guo Ran, his eyes reddening. “It’s like a person eating their own arms and legs to avoid starving to death. This is the greatest humiliation to a prideful divine weapon. What an unforgivable blasphemy.”
As a Forging Master, Guo Ran could feel the item-spirits’ pain. To draw a comparison, the Dragonblood warriors could die with no regrets if they were fighting for their brothers, for justice, for righteousness. But they couldn’t accept being imprisoned and dying of old age in a cage.
